I AM DJ HEAVY  belongs to a class of DJ’s who bring more than just music to a party. He is an expert at creating the right experience for any venue. With his friendly demeanor and a low-key love for men’s fashion, Heavy looks more like the boy-next-door than the dude who shows up to shut a party down. But Heavy’s confidence comes from his undeniable ability to set a good mixing desk on fire. As a child with a solid musical foundation built from the stacks on stacks of records in his father’s collection, DJ Heavy was captivated by the weekend DJs in Philadelphia. Mix show DJs such as Cosmic Kev, Doc B, Jazzy Jeff, and DJ AM ignited the spark he needed to craft his own style and sound, and the mix show DJ in Heavy did not disappoint. In 2009 DJ Heavy’s talents led him to join Clear Channel’s WSNX 104.5 Mixin’ Mafia team. “I’m not about slamming tracks, but striving to keep ‘mixing’ alive.” Heavy’s video DJ-ing also sets him apart from the rest—he is recognized not only for playing but also creating and editing his own music videos. Heavy brings his own deeply-felt brand of fun and energy to genres from rap to house, soul and funk. As one of The Midwest’s most in-demand video DJs, Heavy has opened for concerts, other well recognized DJs, as well as top artists such as  B.oB, Yung Joc, Slick Rick, Talib Kweli, Biz Markie, & Will.i.Am, to name a few. DJ Heavy currently holds two residencies in Chicago playing Top-40, Hip-Hop, R&B, Old School, EDM and Reggae.
